pigment which offers a high brilliance,
chrome effect, surface coating. It is
suitable for applications where rub
resistance and durability are not
requirements for first surface coating.

Applications
Our
press-ready Mirasheen™ inks deliver a 'mirror-like'
finish and offer the printing industry fantastic new
design options and a genuine cost-effective alternative
to metallised substrates and foiling. Wolstenholme
International are also able to offer the Mirasheen™
technology in all of the main printing ink chemistries:
lithographic, gravure, flexographic, providing UV,
water-based and solvent-based products. Mirasheen™ inks
are suitable for many applications such as wet glue
labels, pressure-sensitive labels, general labels,
cartons, high-end paper packaging & commercial printing
and printing on filmic substrates.
Mirasheen™
water-based inks are designed for use on adapted tower
coater units and for flexographic printing on coated
paper and board. Mirasheen™ solvent-based gravure inks
are available in the form of a non-leafing pigment
that can be used for surface and reverse print
applications with optimum 'mirror-like' results
obtained by reverse printing onto smooth, clear,
plastic films. Mirasheen™ gravure inks can be applied
via conventional gravure printing units without the
need for press modification with optimum results
obtained at low coating weights. Mirasheen™ gravure
can be used to create coloured metallic effects by
tinting with transparent pigments or dyes to produce
polychromatic inks or by overprinting the silver with
transparent coloured lacquers. Mirasheen™ gravure inks
are available for most reel-to-reel substrates.
Wolstenholme International also offers Mirasheen™
press-ready UV inks for offset, flexo narrow web,
flexo tower coater, primagraphic and screen processes.
The ability
to print a 'mirror-like' finish reduces the need for
expensive metallised substrates, reduces waste and
allows printers to run their presses at full
commercial speeds, due to avoiding in-line foiling
processes. In addition, Mirasheen™ ink can be combined
with new colour integration technologies such as
MetalFX® and WISE® to give stunning effects.

Technology
MetalFX®
has taken Mirasheen™ on board as its Premium MFX®
Silver Base Ink due to the extremely bright finish
achievable. The MetalFX® Base Silver Ink is an
essential ingredient for consistently reproducing
metallic colours using MetalFX® Technology. For

Inkantation™
With the release of
Wolstenholme International's free
Inkantation™ calculating tool, an opportunity to
select the most cost-effective metallic finish for a
variety of printing applications has been introduced.
Inkantation™ is a truly unique tool, because
calculation formulae are based solely on application
comparisons between different metallic effects such as
metallic inks, metallised substrates and hot & cold
foil stamping.
